Cutting of mangroves may not have been a crime

State prosecutors say they're close to wrapping up an investigation into who cut down about 200 feet of mangroves along a Brevard County-owned island just west of Tortoise Island; some neighbors suspect a covert hack job to provide a better view of the Banana River Lagoon, just south of Pineda Causeway, for which the violators could face thousands of dollars in fines and possible criminal charges - Aug. 21, Florida Today
