Lake Okeechobee ecosystem improving

With the level of Lake Okeechobee lower than it's been in more than four years, the ecosystem damaged by murky, polluted waters has finally begun to improve -- state biologists have reported the first new underwater plants growing on the lake's edges since the 2004 hurricanes as dry, calm weather has allowed the water to start clearing, allowing sunlight to reach the bottom of the lake - Aug. 20, Stuart News
