State boosts wildlife corridor

The state of Florida approved the purchase Tuesday of a conservation easement on 571 acres between Umatilla and Paisley, part of an ongoing effort to complete a wildlife pathway connecting the Wekiva River Basin and Ocala National Forest called the Ocala-Wekiva Greenway; with the $2.6 million deal, nearly 45,000 acres will have been secured toward the more than 75,000 acres identified for the corridor - Aug. 16, Orlando Sentinel
