Florida lifts rule to allow more gopher tortoise relocations

On Tuesday -- months earlier than officials originally predicted -- the state will lift its rule that tortoises testing positive for a respiratory disease cannot be relocated off a property; the rule has long irked conservationists because it forces developers to apply for permits that allow the tortoises to be killed - Aug. 11, Daytona Beach News-Journal
