Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area rebuilds salt marsh

Park rangers, a biologist and a transport company owner relocated four gopher tortoises within the park and worked together to turn 9.6 acres of the man-made island into a salt marsh similar to the one that existed before engineers created the 3,000-mile long Intracoastal Waterway during the 1920s to create an alternative passage parallel to the Atlantic and Gulf coasts - Aug. 9, Daytona Beach News-Journal
