More manatee protection sought

Although a majority of the Braden River has been blanketed by manatee slow zones, the manatee protection efforts on the river still are lacking, said officials from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, which asks that an additional buffer area be implemented around portions of the non-slow zones to further safeguard the manatees from boaters who inadvertently cross into slow-speed areas - Aug. 10, Bradenton Herald
