Red tide organism's growth spurt explosive

A red tide bloom might be creeping up the southwestern Florida coast at a turtle's pace, but the organism causing it can multiply like a rabbit: tests showed red tide had exploded by nearly 500 times in just one week, causing scattered fish kills on Manasota Key and Englewood Beach and prompting officials to issue a health advisory - Aug. 5, Bradenton Herald
